One, two and three

I'm so happy. Rachel Fuller and Pete Townshend have the top three spots on the Independent Artists Company chart.

We're all celebrating in bloggerland. Couldn't have happened to a nicer couple.

Pearl

Today is my sister's birthday. Because she was born on this day there was talk of possibly naming her Pearl. However common sense prevailed and she was given the name Suzanne. She's celebrating with her husband and three boys. Happy birthday sis.

What A Day

Very surreal. First of all the dusting turned into a good couple inches by the time I walked out to catch the bus. Then I spent nearly a half hour waiting for the first bus. There was another that stopped but wasn't the right number. So it started up and pulled out, slid and banged it's back end into the bus stop sign. It kept going no real damage. Finally the other bus came. I got on and rode to where I had to transfer. Waited another 15 minutes for another bus. Finally came. Straight to my place of work right? Wrong. Turns out I got on the bus that only goes to the lightrail transit station. So off I get to stand and wait once again. Here comes the train which finally arrives at my destination. Now I have to hurry in and make a quick purchase before I head to work. Turns out I forgot to put on my blazer this morning. So I buy a sweater instead to wear. Darn dress codes. Thankfully I got waited on right away. Now I have to sprint to the other side of the mall. I arrive and get ready to open my locker and throw in my coat and purse. New locker just assigned the other day. Haven't used it yet. Stuff all over the inside of it. Never cleaned out from the last user. So I hang my coat up in the hall, take my wallet out of the purse and leave the purse in place where employees have to leave bags of purchases and rush downstairs to finally clock in with seconds to spare. Good thing I always leave a couple hours early!

The Holiday Shopping Begins

Well it's here once again. Crowds and holiday tunes and lines to see Santa. Funny how all this would get me all excited when I was a child. Now if it wasn't for my job I think I would stay home and hide under the covers til it was all over. Can't do that though. I'll just put on a brave face and put myself right smack dab in the middle of it all. Hope I don't get run over by the frenzied shoppers. Have a great and productive day everyone.

Snowfall

The big snowfall they have been predicting has turned out to be a mere dusting. Got up this morning and looked out the window and thought 'Oh good. I just need a broom instead of a shovel.' It looks like it will just melt away eventually. The job hunt has finally paid off. It's part time and seasonal but there's a chance it could become permanent if I impress them enough with my customer service skills and punctuality. I don't think any of that should be a problem.
It'll be good to look forward to getting up and getting ready for work once again and feeling productive.

The Mega Mall

I have an interview tomorrow so once again I shall be away from the computer most of the day.
I'm looking forward to it and dreading it as well. Dreading it because there's predictions of a major snowfall here so I'll have to trudge through all that and then come back and shovel all that. My back hurts already!

Faults

I was watching "In The Attic" on WhoTV today. Rachel Fuller performed a song she had written for Pete Townshend called Imperfection. It's always been one of my favorite songs off her CD (along with all the rest of them of course) but this one always struck me because I always think of this short poem written by Sara Teasdale when I hear it.

Faults

They came to tell your faults to me,
They named them over one by one
I laughed aloud when they were done
I knew them all so well before
Oh they were blind, to blind to see
Your faults had made me love you more

The show was terrific as always. Full of treats. Another thing that made my day is I actually won a competition prize. The Poetry Olympics book. Autographed by all. Yay me. :-)

Pictures

Since nothing earthshattering is going on in my life right now I thought I'd post a picture.
These are my nephews. Looking out the back door at a deer that wondered into the yard in the early morning.

The other is of big brother Luke with the twins Nicholas and Joshua.

What Good

They trampled upon it and danced without care
Not one eye was cast upon what lay there

A small pitiful voice crying why to the heavens above
Have they forgotten the promise? are their hearts void of love?
Answered a gentle murmuring comforting and wise
What good is a heart if one believes lies?

Winds strong enough to carry away a lifetimes dream
Proves we are not as much in control as we seem

A cry raised to the skies shaken and forlorn
Nothing is left for what purpose was I born?
The clouds seem to whisper as they pass high overhead
Only if one ceases giving is one truly dead

Shadows will rise and overwhelm those full of hope
Leaving them shellshocked and helpless to cope

A plea comes floating from the earth to God's ear
Are we in this alone? Have you ever been here?
Trees rustled gently with barely heard reply
Long before wishes visited stars in the sky

Running Out Of Time

I feel like I'm racing against time. I still have so much to do. Mainly find a job. Just got turned down for another one. Everybody tells me I should have no trouble because I did so well in my last job and got nothing but compliments from customers and co-workers. I'm willing to work hard and learn new skills and I always turn up for the interviews on time. I tell them I'm willing to be flexible when it comes to the hours I work. Then I call them back to see what's happening and they either tell me that they're still going through the applicants and will get back to me or else they decided to hire somebody else. I'm hoping I can find work before winter arrives. Or else I might have to start shoveling people's walks for a living.

Make it stop please

I just listened to the cheeky girls. Touch My Bum. What kind of a mother would write a song like that for her daughters to sing? Good grief! Well, I needed a good laugh. Thank you, Rachel Fuller and ballerinagurl.

The Pit

Now the laughing gleeful consumers of the mire
Will slither and dance over the remains of the shattered
Taking substance from the droppings of a tabloid empire
Slurping the blood dropped into their gaping, salivating jaws
They reach up and greedily grasp for more tearing the walls
Crying out for victims who must be punished for their flaws
Their hunger is never satisfied and they will never see
That the joke is on them the morsels only illusions they create
To wile away the useless hours of a life they foolishly embrace
Climbing so far then sliding back down once again to helplessly wait

Like I haven't got enough to worry about

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,3604,1578335,00.html

What if you only use your left hand for writing and use your right hand equally for doing everything else? I use my mouse with my right hand. I can throw with my right hand and I use a scissors with my right hand as well. I do tend to sleep on my left side. I eat with my left hand.
I read from left to right. Did I put my left shoe on first today? I'll have to start paying attention to that. You know I was really proud of being lefthanded. This must be a.......RIGHTWING CONSPIRACY. I don't have anything left to say.

Monday moaning

What is it about Mondays? Arggggggggh. Well now that's out of my system. Another thing that's really bugging me is some Who fans. Pete Townshend starts this blog site for The Boy Who Heard Music and people go nuts. Fans are accusing others of being sycophants because they choose to post a message telling Pete how much he means to them. Fans are posting messages telling Pete to create a new Quadrophenia and play loud Who music and forget about everything else. I'm proud of Pete. He put up a diary entry pretty much telling them all to knock it off that he would do what he chooses in his own time and in the manner that he sees fit. Good for him.
I don't care how much money someone has invested in Who music or how many hours one has stood in line for tickets for one of their concerts. The fact is that you do not have the right to tell Pete what to do or how to do it. You never did you never will. Is that such a hard concept to grasp? All this complaining about 'Pete promised us this or that and now he's not following through blah blah blah.' Well who said he wasn't? Besides all I heard him promise was to try and see what came out of some recording sessions. I trust him. I always have and he's never let me down.

Catching up

I hate getting out of bed in the morning. I'm afraid I've gotten out of the habit since being out of work. I try to set my alarm to go off as early as it used to. Sometime it wakes me up other times I don't even hear it. Or it just doesn't go off. The trouble is I can't seem to fall asleep at night. I toss and turn for hours before I finally drift off. It's like I just can't find a comfortable position. Maybe I should take sleeping pills. Better yet maybe I should start drinking tea in the evening instead of pop.

Along With The Crowd

I wrote this a few months back.

ALONG WITH THE CROWD

I am waiting to take my turn on the ride
Because everyone is here no need to decide
Just follow the crowd don't break away
Or they will trample then point as you lay
Eyes straight ahead they won't steer you wrong
Just nod in agreement as you are pulled along

But I keep getting a feeling and it won't go away
That there is so much more to try for today

There's plenty of room in our self made paradise
Just follow all rules and don't ever think twice
We play as one here and you'll do as all are bid
Gather independent notions and keep them well hid
There's nothing but grief in breaking from ranks
Stumble about with your ideas don't expect to get thanks

But how can we learn if we never fall and get hurt
Build courage and new life from a pile of dirt

Raining

I love rain in the morning. Waking up to the sound of it falling. I love going out after it stops and just smelling the air.

I was messing around with photoshop and came up with this. Turned out pretty cool I thought.

Memories of Matinees

I used to work at a movie theatre. I did usher duties, concession and I worked box office. Sometimes it was okay. The staff was alot of fun to work with. There were some real colorful characters. The joking around between shows would leave you in stitches. I remember to carefully move around helping customers trying to keep from falling on my ass because the floor was covered with butter topping, popcorn and ice. Oh yes the fun of filling the ice bins. They had these two buckets they kept under the sink. You had to take these downstairs to the basement where the icemaker was located, scoop out two bucketfuls and haul them back upstairs and then lift them up and fill the bins. this was done several times during operating hours. Another thing you had to go downstairs for was to change the pop cartons hooked up to fountains. You could get quite a workout working there. Then there was the fun of making the popcorn and catching the first few hot, fresh ones into a cup and eating them (as long as no customers were around) on break. There was all the free pop you wanted too. It's a shame they no longer have those neighborhood half-price theatres anymore. We started a petition when we heard the place was going to close. Everybody signed it. In the end it didn't matter. The place was turned into a video store.

The first of September

Fall is coming fast. I can't believe August went by so quick. I want to start working again. I hope I hear from somebody soon. I hate waiting. I feel like my whole life is on hold. I'm so grateful I have this computer it's been a lifesaver. It brings out my creative side. Photoshop is a blast. I think I'll work on making some avatars today. Then maybe I'll think up a poem and post that. I'll just keep thinking positive thoughts. Things are going to get better.

Headphones

Just blogging and listening to tunes on WMP. Got the Dire Straits on now. I really like them although I did get sick of I want my MTV. Mostly because I don't anymore.:-/ VH1 classics that's the channel for me now. Until they eventually fuck that one up too.
I can't wait to see my show Rockstar:INXS tonight. They're going to be performing some real classics.

Lazy Sunday.... not for me

I got the week's grocery shopping taken care of. Got some yummy nectarines. That's for the health conscious side. For the junk food junkie side I got pizza, chips and pop. I just need to munch every now and then. Anyway, my uncle came over with his battery operated saw and we finally got that young oak tree that was growing right in the blue spruce out of there. I just need to clip off the branches and get them all into bags to be hauled off. I'm so glad that's taken care of. I feel accomplished.

By Sara Teasdale

The Kiss
Before you kissed me only winds of heaven Had kissed me, and the tenderness of rain--Now you have come, how can I care for kisses Like theirs again?
I sought the sea, she sent her winds to meet me, They surged about me singing of the south--I turned my head away to keep still holy Your kiss upon my mouth.
And swift sweet rains of shining April weather Found not my lips where living kisses are;I bowed my head lest they put out my glory As rain puts out a star.
I am my love's and he is mine forever, Sealed with a seal and safe forevermore--Think you that I could let a beggar enter Where a king stood before?

Rockstar:INXS

I have been watching this show since the beginning. At first I wasn't too certain about the idea. But I've grown to really like the show and the performers. Personally, I believe MiG Ayesa will walk away with it. He's the perfect fit. I really like Jordis Unga as well. I feel sorry for her because she's getting alot of crap for messing up the Aerosmith classic Dream On. So she can't hit the high notes. Not everyone can. I can't help but wonder what would have happened if she chosen the song Cold As Ice and J.D. Fortune had done Dream On? Hmmmm. I was really happy that Suzie didn't end up in the bottom 3 this time. She was fantastic. I was shocked that Jordis wasn't though.

nature shots

I took these at Black River Falls. My sister's in-laws own a cabin there. It's a beautiful place. If it just wasn't for all those darn bugs. That tree reminds me of one that I used to climb when I was a kid. I used to sit up on a branch as high as I could get and just daydream. Then I would climb back down and get in trouble when I got home for getting tree sap all over my clothes.

Some photos

Here's a photo I took of the house I grew up in. My brother and his family live there now. I've also captured somebody's foot in the picture as well. Haha.
There used to be bushes all along the front of the house but they were taken out. Looks much nicer IMO.

Three second rule

After getting numerous phone calls that require that I say hello at least several times before a machine comes on and pre-recorded message lets me know about the latest trip I might win or loan I could apply for or whatever I have made a decision. From now on when I pick up the phone I will say hello. Quite clearly. I will slowly count to three. If I hear nothing by then I will hang up. I don't see the point of having to say hello more than once. If there's a person there that wants to talk they will usually respond within the three seconds. If they don't I will assume it's a wrong number or an annoying telemarketing message. Oh and for the live telemarketers who call up and act like we're friends from way back so you can sell me some magazine subscriptions I don't need I say no once and hang up. Makes life so much simpler.

The weeds are winning

My yard is a disaster area. The grass needs cutting but it's still wet from early morning rain. There are still a bunch of weeds to get out of the way. I have frigging elm tree starting to grow in my blue spruce tree. The neighbor's tree must have blown some seeds into the yard. I didn't notice it at first so now it'll probably take a saw to get it out of there. I'm going to wait for a while then get started on the yard work.

I'm very lucky

To have met the friends I have online. They're the greatest. They remembered my birthday and sent a bunch of sweet and funny messages. I usually don't make I big deal about birthdays but that was so nice of them.
