Along With The Crowd

I wrote this a few months back.


ALONG WITH THE CROWD

I am waiting to take my turn on the ride
Because everyone is here no need to decide
Just follow the crowd don't break away
Or they will trample then point as you lay
Eyes straight ahead they won't steer you wrong
Just nod in agreement as you are pulled along

But I keep getting a feeling and it won't go away
That there is so much more to try for today

There's plenty of room in our self made paradise
Just follow all rules and don't ever think twice
We play as one here and you'll do as all are bid
Gather independent notions and keep them well hid
There's nothing but grief in breaking from ranks
Stumble about with your ideas don't expect to get thanks

But how can we learn if we never fall and get hurt
Build courage and new life from a pile of dirt
